Since receiving her BFA in painting in 1997 from MassArt, Leah Giberson has made her living as a freelance flash designer and art director in Boston. In between client projects, she can be found getting her hands dirty in her painting studio, the kitchen or digging in her tiny garden. Despite all the suburban houses in her mixed media paintings, she was actually raised by artists deep in the woods of NH and currently lives and works in a small, but sunny apartment with her sweetheart, 3 kids and a cat. She dreams of owning her own house someday, but for now she makes paintings of them and imagines the lives of those who call these places "home". She suspects it's not always what it appears to be. By simplifying these everyday scenes, she allows the encroaching shadows and awkward scale or placement that already exist to tell a more poignant story.
