Paul V. Walcott

I often use found objects in my work...juxtaposing unlike things in order to create a "whole" effect. Some objects simply belong together...and I am here to unite them. That process can suggest new associations or bridge gaps between old and new...hard against soft...light and dark/heavy and light. Here the metaphors are unlimited and universal...and the viewer's imagination is invited to join in.

I also fabricate from scratch using stock material, creating my own shapes.....whichever method suits my mood or is more appropriate for the piece. In this way, I am not only borrowing from the past, but adding layers in the present.
