The Esprit de Corps Art Collective was founded in 2002 by a group of local artists in Jamaica Plain. Since its inception the group has been committed to providing an independent venue for music and multimedia art shows in the Boston area and promoting the use of alternative settings for exhibits.
Until 2005, EDC was able to achieve this goal by showcasing events out of a basement space renovated by members of the group, local galleries in Cambridge , and even portable spaces such as a U-Haul truck. Such means of showcasing art meet the larger goal of breaking down the commercially based relationships between artists, art, and audiences.
These days the core group of EDC members and collaborators has become decentralized, expanding all over North America and beyond: New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Puerto Rico, Argentina, Cairo, Iran, Hungary, and other far-reaching parts of the globe.
